What’s in my Hospital Bag + What I Got for Aftercare

Hey ladies! I had a lot of you ask me to share what I packed in my hospital bag and what I put together to take care of myself after baby is born. Several mamas had great suggestions and I did some of my own research to be prepared, but I tried not to overpack either (I probably still did – this is a huge problem of mine!) Most of the items are directly linked in case you’re an expecting mama and want to get some of these things too! Let me know if you packed the same things or if there’s something I missed!

The big picture (what we’re leaving the house with):

• My overnight bag
• Baby’s diaper bag

• Boppy nursing pillow

• 1 pillow + 2 blankets

• Cookies for nurses (if I get a chance to bake them during contractions, lol!)

What I packed in my bag:

• Overnight bag

• Hanging toiletry bag organizer (I got mine as a freebie from Victoria’s Secret but couldn’t find the exact one. I linked a similar one on Amazon)
• Drivers license and insurance card in wallet
• Maternity pajama set
• Robe
• Nursing bras (2)
• Nursing tank (1)
• Underwear (4)
• Flip flops for the shower
• Maxi dress (for going home)
• Chapstick
• Hair ties
• Face makeup wipes + eye makeup remover pads
• Deodorant
• Dry shampoo (travel size)
• Hairspray
• Toothbrush
• Razor
• Extra contacts + contact lens solution
• Eyeglasses + case
• Hairbrush
• Face moisturizer
• Light makeup: foundation, face powder, powder brush, blush, blush brush, mascara, brow pencil, brow gel, eyeshadow palette, eyeshadow brush

What I packed in baby’s bag (+ some items that will stay in her diaper bag):

• Fawn Design diaper bag
• Swaddle + headband set
• Wooden milestone card for announcement
• Going home outfit
• Footed sleeper (1)
• Muslin swaddle blanket (1)
• Ollie swaddle
• Security blanket for car seat
• Newborn hat
• Socks (1 pair)
• No-scratch mittens (1 pair)
• Burp cloths (1)
• Washcloths (2)
• 5-in-1 multi-use cover
• Baby shusher

• Diapers (just a couple for now because I know our hospital will give us some)

• Daniel’s diaper backpack/overnight bag

• Birth plan (2 copies)
• Extra clothes
• Pajamas

• Soap, body lotion + toothpaste for both of us
• Flip flops for the shower
• Laptop + charger
• Phone charger
• Camera gear
• Snacks
• + a few of the same extras I have in my bag that will stay in his bag in the future

• Fridet mom washer peri bottle
• Tucks cooling pads
• Dermoplast pain relieving spray
• Feminine pads
